Doors, A Deeper Meaning

Oh my goodness!! It is the first day of fall 2018! This is my absolute favorite time of the year for many reasons. One, the amazing weather. Two, the decorations such as, pumpkins, cornucopias, fall leaves get me into a (VERY) happy mood!! I also love the smells, cinnamon, pumpkin, etc. Ahhhh, I just love fall. Words cannot express how much I love fall.

I could go on and on about how much I love fall. Seriously, I could talk about it for hours!! Anyways, today I am here to talk about doors. Speaking of doors, the door to fall has been opened (officially!!) and the door to summer has closed. You are most likely thinking, “Doors? I already know what a door’s purpose is.” Or “I have never thought of doors like that.” Well, I have always grown up on a phrase that you might have heard before – “If God shuts a door, He opens a new one”

Life is full of doors being shut and opened and sometimes God does it for us. Other times, we have to choose ourselves. We might not know why he closes certain doors, but there is always a reason behind it. After all, He knows every SINGLE thing! You can’t ever hide from God and I don’t mean that in a creepy way. Just know that an adult might not be watching you, but God always is. He protects you and wants the BEST for you no matter what.

Sometimes a closed-door is a gift from God!

Palm Tree Quote

Even though you might not be aware of it in the moment, God always has a bigger and better plan in the works when you trust him!

Just because something might not make sense and we might hold a grudge against God, He ALWAYS has his reasons.

However, we cannot leave all of our decisions for God to make. Don’t get me wrong, you can always lean on God for help, but we should still make some decisions on our own. It is important to know that we need to be able to rely on ourselves, not JUST God.

I love the following quote: “Until God opens the next door, praise Him in the hallway.” I think it applies so well with what I am talking about. Waiting for God’s guidance on whether you should step through a new door or keep it closed takes patience, which most of us do not have (which I do not have). While waiting, ‘praise him in the hallway.’ Not literally, but just praise him while you are waiting for his answer. Remember though, some decisions you will have to make on your own, but you can absolutely seek his guidance.

Verse(s) of the day + Prayer:

“I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut. I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.” – Revelation 3:8

There is a door that God always has open for us and that door is the door into heaven.

because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.” Romans 10:9-10

If you want to follow and be with Jesus for eternity say this prayer:

Lord, I want to be with you now and forever. I want you to renew me and give me a fresh start. I want your guidance and I want you. I accept you and want you in my heart. Thank you for dying on the cross to save our sins. Amen

Happy fall and enjoy your day of college football (Go Clemson!),
