illusions

There are far too many emotions and opinions that we let control us in life. Guess what? Control from anyone but yourself is an illusion. You are the only one in control over your mind, soul, and body. The Bible continuously shares how we have a gift and that gift is our ability of choice. Just as one can choose to wake up every day, they can choose peace and strength which can always be found in Jesus.

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

Romans 8:28

Another illusion is our thoughts. Maybe you’re thinking “I will when I’m ready,” but is there ever a right time? Or is it always the right time? Beware of your thoughts and try to recognize truths and differentiate them from illusions. Remember that the greater the pain is for you, the greater God’s provision will be.

I was once told that anxiety is energy, anger is energy, pain is energy; they are emotions. And energy will always strive to be released. — Inevitably, bottled-up emotions won’t stay bottled-up. They’ll either explode or implode. You do not have to be afraid of grief, you just have to learn to work it through with God instead of on your own. Grief is energy. Don’t waste it, use it and tend to your heart because “feeling is healing.” Take your time to process your emotions, so that you, with the Lord’s guidance, can mend what’s broken.

When you are at the end of your rope, feeling especially empty, that is when God does his best work. Just know that it’s not your job to fix it. You can give it all to him like 1 Peter 4:7 shares, “Cast all your anxieties on Him and He will care for you.” It’s completely easier said than done, but when you’re feeling down, why not just talk to God? Isn’t that actually quite easy? Think of it this way: there is no expiration date with God.

Call out your illusions and look to God!
